Gradients of Resurgence

Embracing the Gift of High Water

Our plan consists of three major design moves: the rehabilitation of Black Creek, the creation of new public parkland, and a reorientation of the edges between parkland and the surrounding neighborhoods. These design moves address one of the root causes of flooding, help slow and treat water before it rejoins with the Humber, create new public parkland for the non-golfing crowd, and provide cross-creek connections. Local schools and their adjacent schoolyards now play a critical role in this flood mitigation strategy, at the same time providing opportunities for education, fostering a spirit of stewardship for the land and water.
